Garden Gnome...

Found this guy where else, at my work. You can kinda see his large teef in the second picture...

The green lynx spider very seldom bites humans, and its bite is harmless though painful. It is primarily of interest for its use in agricultural pest management, for example in cotton fields. The spiders have been observed to hunt several moth species and their larvae, including some of the most important crop pests, such as the bollworm moth, the cotton leafworm moth and the cabbage looper moth. However, they also prey on beneficial insects, such as honey bees. (Wikipedia)

Open Shut...

Some flicks from the power outage. Heres a Downtown San Diego comparison of a normal night and the dark night. And a follow up of a road without street lights to light the roads.

Heres a trailer to The Secret Of Kells. An English animation that blew my mind. The story is ok but i was really impressed witht he artwork for this film. A lot of the backgrounds were washed and watercolored and it came along with a stylized character base with some celtic/art nouveau foilage and environments. Makes me want to watch The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. So if ever u want to watch a really great art inspiring animation  def check out The Secret of Kells...

Humbling Darkness...

September 8th 3:40 Pm I was in a Barnes and Noble looking at books in Mission Valley. The lights went out and we had to exit the store. As we made our way west on Friars rd we noticed the street lights were out and headed to Mission Valley Mall. All the stores were closed over there as well. Our phones had no service and at that time we suspected some thing wasnt right. We tried to use some payphones to no avail and headed back tot he car. Finally tuned into 600am radio station to get updates on the situation  ...Powere outage from Baja Mexico/San Diego to Yuma Arizona...

Trolly stuck on the tracks with no power, the Fire Dep linked up to escort someone off the car...

Unaffected by the pandemonium of life w/out electricity/internet/phone service the lady and I noticed some spiders. One was a fury orange one spinning its web getting ready for the dark night ahead. And this orb weaver was chilling until a moth flew into its web right as i was taking this picture.  Life moves on, and will do so long after we are gone...

Driving from Mission Valley to Southside San Diego i noticed a lot of people walking/bicycling around. A lot more scooters/sport bikes being used, a lot of abandoned cars on the side of the roads probably w/ no gas and a lot of neighbors talking with each other...San diegans can't drive so well especially after/durring rain. I witnessed the same affect at the stoplights. Everyone forgot how to do 4 way stops and some would get frustrated not understanding the situation. Heres a scary video of a notorious turn of road that with no street lighting and San Diegan drivers is a formula for accidents...

Spring Forward...

I dont know whats going on but there has been a surge of insect life lately. A lot of the Wolf spiders have been spinning there webs. Been seeing a lot of Black/Brown widows and a ton of crickets. Maybe because it was a good winter + spring.   This fly landed in front of me at work. It would fly away with the other insect intact. I dont know if its eating it or what...kinda crazy seeing the hairs on the back of the fly...
